Efficiency testing of gas and oil fired equipment. 99% of businesses today that provide energy audits or building performance surveys do not include combustion testing. I personally do not understand why they do not. Combustion efficiency is just as important as the HVAC equipment. We heat and cook with gas or oil.

• By looking at the efficient rating on the equipment?
• Many factors come into play on gas or oil fired equipment. Age, air mixture, dirt and rust. Even changing the air exchange (pressure) in a facility will greatly effect the efficiency.

Do, we need to shutdown equipment? 

No. Inspected equipment should be operating under normal load. Most electrical equipment has a service interlock that allows access without interrupting service.  

How often do I need to inspect?  

Electrical Systems should be inspected at least once a year.
Mechanical Systems should be checked frequently to establish comprehensive trending data. Gas fired equipment should be tested one per year.
